RAFA Joins 1% for the Planet

We are pleased to announce that the Rivers and Forests Alliance (RAFA) has joined 1% for the Planet as an environmental partner!

Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, 1% for the Planet has helped to direct hundreds of millions of dollars to approved environmental partners worldwide. Their network of businesses and environmental partners drive environmental impact through collective action.

As a 1% for the Planet Environmental Partner, RAFA is eligible to receive donations from 1% for the Planet members, who give 1% of their annual sales to nonprofits to ensure our planet and future generations thrive. RAFA currently is partnering with Liquid Spark Media & Marketing through 1% for the Planet.

“The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems,” writes Yvon Chouinard, co-founder of 1% for the Planet.

1% for the Planet seeks nonprofit partners that are tackling six big environmental issues: climate, food, land, wildlife, water, and pollution. RAFA’s programs and projects address all these issues, following our mission to preserve, protect, and regenerate Costa Rica’s Pacuare River Basin, its forests, and biodiversity together with our communities for a sustainable future.

The alliance with 1% for the Planet brings significant credibility to RAFA for all donors worldwide, even if they are not business members. Remember, there are many ways to donate to RAFA’s programs, and donors in the U.S. can get tax-deduction eligibility by donating through our partner Amigos of Costa Rica.

All together for our planet!
